Cab driver punched four times and cash stolen

Police officers in Northamptonshire tasered man after allegedly robbing taxi driver and assaulting officers. Jay Samuel Trew, 25, yesterday appeared at Northampton Magistrate's Court following allegations of punching and robbing a taxi driver on Monday morning.
The cabbie was allegedly punched four times to the head and robbed of all of his takings and cash. Northamptonshire Police officers were alerted to the incident and found the suspect at a nearby address. The police force claims that one officer was punched, one was kicked and another spat on, as the police tried to arrest the suspect. Officers used a taser to arrest the suspect. Trew, from Daventry, was arrested by officers and charged with one count of robbery and three counts of assaulting an emergency worker. Trew was set to appear in Northampton Magistrate's Court yesterday. A Northants Police Dogs Section spokesperson said yesterday via Twitter: “The male who robbed a taxi driver, assaulted three officers and had to be tasered on Sunday night has been charged and remanded tonight. Let’s hope the right result is achieved at court. @NorthantsARV @NorthantsChief”
