Uber are looking for a bigger and better London base, despite concerns surrounding their operator’s licence in the capital according to press sources. According to the Telegraph, Uber are looking for a much larger headquarters based in the City of London area.
Uber are currently located in the newly redeveloped Aldgate area of the capital, just east of the financial district. The search for a new UK home in London comes as concerns remain around their longterm future in the capital. Transport for London (TfL) made the decision last week to only issue Uber with a two-month private hire operator licence ahead of consideration of any potential further licensing application. TfL said the the new two-month licence will have the same conditions that Uber has been subject to over the last 15 months, along with new conditions covering ride sharing, appropriate insurance and driver document checks by Uber. TfL’s original decision not to license ULL has led to the app-based firm improving its culture and governance. However, the regulator is requesting additional material from Uber and this additional information will help inform any future licensing decision.
