Two Liverpool taxi drivers suspended for illegal tyres in the space of a week

Perry Richardson

A second taxi driver in the space of a week has been suspended for an illegal tyre in Liverpool.

A joint operation involving Liverpool City Council (LCC) Licensing and Merseyside Police on 5 October saw one hackney cab suspended. A picture of the tyre was posted on Twitter showing the excessive wear.

A second cabbie was then suspended five days later on 10 October for the same reason. This time the tyre was in even worse condition with a photo showing cord visible.

A spokesperson from LCC asked drivers via Twitter to “Please check your vehicles tyres regularly”
