21-year-old arrested as murder investigation launched after fatal Ramsgate harbour stabbing

Kent Police have launched a murder investigation after a 52-year-old man was fatally injured during an incident near Ramsgate Harbour in the early hours of Sunday 23 August 2026.
Officers were called at around 4.47am following reports of a man with a knife in the harbour area. Two injured men were subsequently found at separate locations in the town centre.
The 52-year-old victim was found in Harbour Street, while a second man, aged 48, was located in Harbour Parade. Police said both men had injuries consistent with stab wounds and were taken to a local hospital for treatment.
The man found in Harbour Street was later pronounced dead. His next of kin has been informed. The second victim has since been released from hospital.
A 21-year-old local British man was arrested shortly after the incident and remains in police custody. Officers said they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the investigation.
Enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident are continuing, with additional police patrols deployed in the area.
