Acorn Group has launched a new internal women’s network called DRVN as the insurance provider seeks to strengthen support for female employees across the business ahead of International Women’s Day on 8 March.

The Formby-based company, which specialises in non-standard car, van, taxi and household insurance, said the initiative will focus on career development, wellbeing and key life milestones affecting women working across the organisation.

The network, branded DRVN with the tagline “Women driving change”, was developed following feedback from female staff and will provide structured mentoring, leadership development opportunities and specialist health and wellbeing sessions.

Acorn Group said the programme will also offer practical guidance around major life events including starting a family, buying a home and managing financial planning during maternity leave.

The launch follows the company’s accreditation as one of the UK’s Best Workplaces for Women in 2025, recognition that highlights employers with policies and practices aimed at improving gender equality and career progression.

DRVN will initially operate across three main areas. A wellness programme will provide workshops and discussions covering women’s health topics including hormonal health, reproductive wellbeing and menopause, alongside sessions focused on emotional resilience.

A second workstream will focus on career inspiration, bringing together leaders from within Acorn and the wider financial services sector to discuss the challenges, decisions and setbacks that can shape professional careers.

The network will also establish structured one-to-one mentoring opportunities, delivered in partnership with Acorn’s Learning and Development team, as part of a wider effort to formalise mentoring support across the business.

The initiative will be formally introduced through a premiere podcast event bringing together employees and allies from across the organisation to discuss career development, key life stages and women’s health.

Acorn Group operates across several specialist insurance brands and provides cover for sectors including the UK taxi and private hire market, making workforce diversity and employee support a growing focus for the company as it expands its presence in transport-related insurance lines.

Miruna Constantinescu, Customer & Marketing Director at Acorn, said:

“A high-performing business like ours is built on an open and inclusive culture where talented people can thrive. That approach is closely aligned with one of our core strategic priorities – ‘stay small to grow big’ – maintaining the close-knit, supportive environment that enables people to do their best work as the business continues to grow.

“DRVN has been created to complement that culture and support the many high-performing women across our organisation. By creating more opportunities for connection, mentorship and development, the network helps ensure that talent continues to grow with the business.

“Ultimately, when people feel supported and empowered to succeed, it strengthens the organisation as a whole.”
