Addison Lee has partnered with skills and apprenticeship platform Multiverse to roll out a new AI and data training programme aimed at supporting growth and operational efficiency across its business, as National Apprenticeship Week begins.
The London-based taxi, private hire and courier operator said the initiative marks a shift in strategic focus as it looks to strengthen data-led decision making across scheduling, routing and demand forecasting. The company will enrol 20 employees onto Multiverse programmes designed to build capability in data analysis, predictive modelling and applied artificial intelligence.
According to Addison Lee, the training forms part of a broader effort to evolve from a traditional fleet-led operation into a more technology-driven logistics provider. The company operates across passenger transport and same-day courier services in London and other UK cities, where rising congestion, labour constraints and competition from platform-based operators have increased pressure on margins and service reliability.
Participants will be trained to use data to anticipate market demand more accurately, allowing the business to move away from reactive scheduling towards proactive vehicle deployment. Addison Lee said this approach is intended to reduce dead mileage, improve utilisation of drivers and vehicles, and optimise routing across both passenger and courier operations.

The programme includes the Level 3 Data and Insights for Business Decisions and the Level 4 Data Fellowship, which focus on data literacy, programming and analytical modelling. Employees will also have access to higher-level courses including Level 4 AI for Business Value and the Level 6 AI and Machine Learning Fellowship, with an emphasis on identifying commercially viable and ethical uses of AI within day-to-day operations.
Addison Lee said the skills gained will be applied directly to operational processes such as rota planning, demand forecasting and performance analysis. The company expects this to support more consistent service levels while reducing wasted time on the road, a key cost factor in dense urban environments like London.
For Multiverse, the partnership adds another transport and logistics operator to its client base as demand grows for apprenticeship-funded digital skills training. The company positions its programmes as a way for employers to build in-house capability while aligning workforce development with measurable business outcomes.
The move comes as transport operators across the UK face growing scrutiny on efficiency, emissions and workforce sustainability. By investing in data and AI skills internally, Addison Lee is seeking to improve resilience and scalability while preparing its workforce for a more automated and analytics-driven operating model.
Patrick Gallagher at Addison Lee said: “As we mark National Apprenticeship Week at Addison Lee, we’re taking a fresh approach to how we grow our business and prioritise the development of our teams. By integrating data and AI we can more easily predict when and where customers need us and continue to deliver a reliable service across London. On top of that, we will be able to support our drivers more effectively and have the resources and knowledge to drive internal efficiencies across our business.”
Gary Eimerman, Chief Learning Officer at Multiverse, said: “Addison Lee is a household name, but their vision for the future is what makes this partnership so compelling. They are recognising that the clearest path to growth lies in the potential of their people. By mastering AI and data, their team is proactively shaping the next era of London logistics and ensuring the business remains a leader in a rapidly evolving market.”
