Perry Richardson

Thames Valley Police are appealing for witnesses following an assault in Witney during the early hours of Sunday morning 11 August.

The incident took place at around 12.20am at the taxi rank on High Street. Two men, one in his forties and the other in his late teens, were standing at the rank when they were approached and assaulted by an unknown man.

During the incident, the older man sustained a cut below his eye while trying to protect the younger victim. Fortunately, neither man required hospital treatment.

The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 6ft 2ins tall, wearing navy blue shorts, a blue jacket, and sliders.

Thames Valley Police are urging anyone who may have witnessed the assault or who has any information about the incident to come forward.

Case investigator Tracy Wilkinson said: “This incident has occurred at the taxi rank in Witney town centre.

“I am appealing to anybody who witnessed this to please get in touch with Thames Valley Police.

“I would also ask any drivers, particularly taxi drivers, to check their dash-cams, and if it has captured the incident, to please contact us.

“You can make a report online via our website or by calling 101, quoting reference 43240383849.

“Alternatively, for anonymity, you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
