West Midlands Police are trying to trace a taxi driver who may hold vital information to assist their investigations into a shooting which took place in Coventry on Thursday evening (17 September).

During the force's extensive CCTV search, they have identified a taxi which they believe could assist with their ongoing enquiries.

It’s believed to be a silver coloured Peugeot Tepee, with a white taxi sign on the roof, and it was in Far Gosford Street at the time of the shooting.

Officers would like to speak to the driver as they could have valuable information or even dashcam footage which could be crucial in helping to identify the offenders, the force has said.

Detective Inspector Kat Sibley from Force CID, added: “We are exploring several lines of enquiry and this taxi driver could hold information to assist us.

“The men injured on Thursday evening are thankfully less seriously injured than intially thought and only one remains in hospital where his condition is stable, however we are still determined to catch those responsible for this horrific violence.

“We are continuing with increased patrols and we have a Dispersal Order in place in the area. Please talk to us if you have any concerns."

Any witnesses can contact the police via Live Chat on on their website or call 101 quoting 20CV/224909R/20.

Officers also say if you’d prefer to remain anonymous you can contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. Tell them what you know - not who you are.
