Around 100 black cabs taking children to Disneyland Paris are all LEVC TX models for the first time in charity event’s history
The Magical Taxi Tour’s fleet will consist entirely of LEVC TX black cabs for the first time since the charity event began in 1995.
Around 100 taxis are expected to take part in the journey to Disneyland Paris. The annual event, now in its 31st year, brings together taxi drivers, volunteers and British and French authorities to support children with life-threatening conditions and their families.
The milestone means every taxi in this year’s fleet will be zero-exhaust-emission capable. The TX combines electric driving with range-extended technology, giving drivers flexibility for the journey.
LEVC said it will supply vehicles from its own fleet, donate to the charity and provide practical support for participating taxis. It will also provide spending money for the families taking part.
The TX has space for up to six passengers and an integrated ramp that can accommodate a forward-facing wheelchair. Other features include a hearing induction loop, braille switches, a step, swivel chair and high-visibility handles.
LEVC said the TX, introduced in 2018, now accounts for around 70% of London’s licensed taxi fleet. The company also said TX vehicles have collectively saved more than 450 million kilograms of CO₂ globally since going on sale.
