Billionaire who sits on Uber's Board of Directors set to take over Premier League sleeping giants

The governor of the Public Investment Fund (PIF) Yasir Al-Rumayyan, who sits on the Board of Directors at ride-sharing firm Uber, is set to become Newcastle United Chairman once football's Premier League Association successfully complete the necessary checks on the proposed £300 million take over.

A fluent English speaker and a close associate of Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman, Al-Rumayyan is also the chairman of oil giant Saudi Aramco.

In June 2016, PIF invested $3.5 billion in ride-sharing firm Uber. As part of the agreement, Al-Rumayyan was offered a seat on the Silicon Valley's board of directors.

In October 2016, PIF, under Al-Rumayyan, invested $45 billion in the newly established SoftBank Vision Fund, a technology-focused investment vehicle and a major investor of Uber Technologies Inc.

Al-Rumayyan's Public Investment Fund is said to be currently worth around $320billion.
