A black taxi was left badly damaged after a fire on Stronend Street in Possilpark on Thursday afternoon, with police launching an investigation into suspected arson.

The blaze was reported at around 2.35pm on 15 January. The vehicle was parked roadside when flames tore through the interior, visibly exiting all windows as thick, black smoke billowed above the street.

Images from the scene show the taxi fully alight, with fire engulfing the passenger compartment and smoke drifting across nearby homes. The intensity of the flames suggests the fire took hold quickly before crews brought it under control.

A police spokesperson said there were no reported injuries. The fire is being treated as wilful and enquiries are ongoing.
