bp pulse has confirmed an extension to its partnership with Transport for London (TfL), reinforcing its position as a key supplier of rapid and ultra-fast electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure in the capital.
The agreement, which began in 2018, supports bp pulse’s continued focus on delivering dependable and accessible charging solutions across London and surrounding areas. The bp pulse and TfL network currently includes more than 150 charging points located throughout London’s boroughs and stretching as far as Watford and Epping Forest.
These chargers are playing an essential part in London’s transition to electric vehicles, particularly for the ride-hail and taxi industries that rely on reliable access to power for daily operations.
Since the start of the collaboration, bp pulse has invested heavily in upgrading the existing charging estate. Many of the original units from 2018 have now been replaced with newer, faster models that offer improved reliability and performance. According to the company, these upgraded chargers are recording an average increase in usage of around 50% compared with the older technology, underlining growing confidence among EV drivers.
Phases one to three of the improvement programme are now complete, providing almost 130 new chargers across key London locations. Phase four, which will deliver a further five new chargers, is due for completion by the end of November.
bp pulse says the programme highlights its broader goal of developing a robust, high-quality charging network to support the capital’s transport infrastructure. The company’s focus remains on ensuring that drivers, particularly within the professional taxi and private hire sectors, have consistent access to fast, efficient charging that meets operational needs.
Valerio Ferro, General Manager at bp pulse UK, said: “We are delighted to extend our agreement with TfL to 2029. We’ve been working hard to upgrade the charging infrastructure across London and we’re about to enter the final phase of the upgrade. We’re seeing increased demand on the new chargers, showing how important it is for taxis and ride hails to have the EV infrastructure in the right places.”
