Bristol taxi driver left with broken thumb after racist assault as police release images of three men

Avon and Somerset Police have released images of three men they want to speak to after a taxi driver was assaulted and his vehicle damaged on Anchor Road.
The driver was approached by a group at about 4am on Saturday 20 September. Police said the individuals used racial slurs before assaulting him and damaging his vehicle.
The victim suffered a broken thumb and cuts to his face. He was taken to hospital for treatment and has since been discharged to recover at home. Police said they remain in contact with him and have offered access to support services.
A passing van driver shouted at the attackers, causing them to flee, police said. Officers have asked the van driver to come forward because they believe the person could assist the investigation.
Police said they have taken an account from the victim, carried out extensive CCTV enquiries and are working with partner agencies. They released images of three men they believe may have information relevant to the case.
The first man is described as white, of large build, with black hair, and wearing a blue jacket, black jeans and trainers. The second is described as white, with brown hair, wearing a black T-shirt with a white collar, blue ripped jeans and trainers. The third is described as white, with black hair and black stubble, wearing a black long-sleeved top, dark blue jeans and trainers. All three are believed to be aged between 18 and 25.
Police said the assault had caused the victim considerable distress and that officers would continue to investigate. The force also said it understood the concern such incidents cause in the community and would pursue those responsible.
Anyone who recognises the men or has information about the incident, and anyone with relevant dashcam or CCTV footage are asked to contact Avon and Somerset Police.
