British Olympic swimming legend Adam Peaty MBE was given free taxi rides from London’s taxi drivers after inspirational performances at the showcase event.

The three time Olympic gold medalist has recently returned home from Tokyo after becoming the first British swimmer to ever defend his crown.

The 26-year-old breaststroke specialist has also broken 14 world record times throughout his career so far.

Enjoying time in the capital, Peaty took black cabs to navigate London, but got a surprise when it came to paying the fare at the end of the journey.

Two cabbies refused to take payment and instead thanked the swimmer for his inspirational Olympic performances.

Adam Peaty MBE said via social media: “We’ve had 2 free taxi rides around London because they said they’ve been inspired so much by me winning gold.

“One of them swims 4 times a week since seeing me win in Rio, crazy how much of an impact you don’t realise you have had! Got to love this country.”
