CCTV APPEAL: Two knife wielding bilkers threaten taxi driver

Police are appealing for information after a taxi driver reported being threatened with a knife by two passengers in Gateshead.
At 5pm on Friday 29 September it was reported that two men got into a taxi outside of Morrisons in Blaydon and asked to be taken to Hyde Park Street in Bensham.

However, when the passengers got to their location, instead of paying, they reportedly threatened the driver with a knife before fleeing the scene. The driver was physically unharmed but left shaken.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing and the police have already carried out a range of enquiries to trace the males, including a review of CCTV.
Today Northumbria Police have issued an appeal for information in the hopes of tracing those responsible and released images of two men who were in the area the time of the incident, and could have information which assists.
The men, or anyone who thinks they have information is asked to get in touch by calling 101 or using the ‘Tell us Something’ page on the website quoting log NP-20230929-0798.
