BP Chargemaster offers free EV charging for taxis during COVID-19 pandemic

BP Chargemaster is providing support to electric taxis who are transporting NHS workers, to enable them to travel for cheaper fare options during the COVID-19 pandemic.

UK Black Cab apps, FREE NOW and Gett, have created a special booking option; NHS Heroes. They are offering a reduced fare for NHS workers, allowing them to get to hospitals quickly and safely. As of last week, NHS workers, including front line workers and primary care service workers, can use the apps for a reduced rate to and from work.

FREE NOW drivers will offer a reduced rate under their NHS Heroes scheme in London, which equates to 50% off the lowest tariff and Gett drivers are offering £10 rides for their NHS Heroes scheme in Edinburgh, Glasgow, and Reading, as well as London zones 1-3.

In total BP Chargemaster will add the equivalent credit of roughly 100,000 miles of Black Cab journeys in total across qualifying taxi driver accounts, who can redeem this against their Polar Plus account’s electricity costs. Enabling them cheaper access to over 7,000 public charging points across the UK. This is applicable for new and current Polar Plus account holders.

For taxi drivers wishing to redeem the offer, they are urged to follow the following information:
