Uber has announced a new loyalty partnership with Delta Air Lines, offering customers the ability to earn Delta SkyMiles through Uber rides and Uber Eats orders.
The programme, which begins immediately for those already on the waitlist and later this week for all Delta SkyMiles members, enables customers to accumulate miles through everyday spending. Once accounts are linked, customers can earn one mile per dollar spent on eligible Uber Eats orders over $40 and on UberX rides to and from airports. Premium services like Uber Comfort and Uber Black will earn two miles per dollar, while Uber Reserve trips will offer three miles per dollar spent.
In addition, Uber will be integrated into the Fly Delta app. This will allow travellers to reserve an Uber ride to the airport at the time of booking a flight. SkyMiles members connected to Delta Sync Wi-Fi will also receive special offers later this year to book Uber rides upon landing.
Uber Shuttle will also be launched next month at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. Linked Uber and Delta account holders will be the first to receive updates about the service.
Camiel Irving, Uber’s VP Operations and General Manager of US&C Mobility, said the initiative was part of ongoing efforts to make airport travel more efficient and affordable.
Prashant Sharma, V.P. of Loyalty at Delta, said: “SkyMiles Membership is about giving Delta’s loyal customers more ways to earn even more miles, fly with more ease, and experience more of what really matters to them.
“Our new partnership with Uber not only expands the value of loyalty and makes it easier than ever for our Members to get rewarded – it also opens the door for new audiences to find reasons to love SkyMiles, no matter how often they fly.”
