The Children’s Magical Taxi Tour is set to return on Friday 12 September 2025, when a fleet of London’s iconic black taxis will once again transport 200 children with life-limiting illnesses to Disneyland Paris.
Now in its 31st year, the charity event is organised by the Worshipful Company of Hackney Carriage Drivers and continues to offer seriously ill children and their families a rare opportunity for respite and joy away from treatment routines.
The three-day journey begins with a departure from Canary Wharf, where drivers, children and carers will gather for a communal breakfast hosted at The Peligon. The taxi convoy, supported by City of London Police, Kent Police, London Ambulance NHS Trust, AA breakdown services and the French Gendarmerie, will travel in procession to the French capital via P&O Ferries.
Each year, the journey brings together a volunteer force of licensed taxi drivers who give up their time and vehicles to support the cause. In 2024, over 200 children joined the trip in a convoy stretching more than three miles. In previous years, up to 125 taxis have participated.
The tour is entirely funded by donations and sponsors, with each taxi costing around £1,600 to cover accommodation, fuel, meals and park admission. Since its start in 1994, more than 5,000 children have taken part in the tour, making it one of the most significant and enduring charitable events in the taxi industry.
Organisers say the aim of the initiative is to create a safe, memorable and magical experience for children whose lives are shaped by illness, as well as giving their families a much-needed break. For many, it is their first and only chance to visit Disneyland Paris.

The Master of the Worshipful Company of Hackney Carriage Drivers said: "Every year, our drivers give freely of their time and taxis to bring immeasurable joy to these children and their families. This year's 100 strong convoy sets a new milestone and reminds us why this charity began and continues."
A parent said: "This journey means more than a trip, it’s a chance to breathe, to smile, to step away from hospital visits and treatments and to live, even if just for a little while."
A City of London Police spokesperson said: "We’re honoured to support this extraordinary convoy, ensuring it is safe, seamless, and delivers unforgettable memories."
