Cleveland Police appeal for taxi witnesses after teenage girl assault

Detectives investigating the sexual assault of a teenage girl in Billingham are appealing for information from potential witnesses who may have travelled in a white taxi near the scene.
The incident was reported shortly after 10pm on Tuesday 20 May on Rievaulx Avenue. Officers believe the taxi may have been in the area around the time of the offence and could hold vital information.
A 17-year-old boy has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident. He faces charges of attempted wounding with intent, sexual assault, and possession of a knife. He has been remanded in custody pending a future court hearing.
Cleveland Police are urging anyone with information, particularly those who may have been in the white taxi, to come forward. They can contact the force on 101, quoting reference number 090926.
