A takeaway delivery driver who tricked a lone female into thinking he was a legitimate cab before sexually assaulting her has been found guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court.
The man, named by STV News, preyed on his victim, a 20-year-old woman, who was travelling to her home in the West End.
Pretending to be a cab driver, the man tricked his victim into entering his vehicle before dropping off a food delivery. The assault took place on the night of 24 July 2019.
According to sources, he then repeatedly groped his victim under her clothing, touched her on the leg and repeatedly performed a sex act on her during the journey as well as on the M74.
The man said he thought he was acting as a good Samaritan when he offered to take his victim home. This was soon shot down by the prosecution.
Further background checks on the man revealed that he had a previous conviction for an assault to injury in 2009 in which he received a fine.
Sentence was deferred pending background reports by sheriff Sean Murphy QC.
