Denbighshire County Council has begun rolling out redesigned taxi driver badges and vehicle plates as it transitions to a new supplier, with changes set to be introduced gradually across the fleet over the coming year.
The local authority said taxi drivers and passengers may notice differences in the layout and appearance of driver badges, vehicle plates and door stickers as the updated system is implemented. The move forms part of a wider production change affecting licensing materials.
Existing licensed vehicles will continue to display the current plate design until their next renewal date. However, vehicles newly entering the fleet, along with those due for licence renewal from mid-April onwards, will begin receiving the updated plates and badges.
The phased approach is intended to minimise disruption for operators while aligning future renewals with the new design standard. No changes to licensing requirements or compliance obligations have been outlined alongside the redesign.

Jones, Head of Planning, Public Protection and Countryside Service, said the council wanted to ensure stakeholders were aware of the changes. “We would like to notify taxi businesses and service users of the changes we are making to the taxi licensing plates and driver badges,” he said.
He added: “We appreciate their patience whilst these changes are being made.”
The council has not specified the supplier involved or detailed the design alterations, but the transition reflects routine updates to licensing systems that can affect identification, enforcement visibility and administrative processes for operators.
