Drug driving private hire driver who shouted abuse at other road users taken into custody

A driver of a private hire vehicle has been taken into custody after officers from Merseyside's Roads Policing Unit conducted a positive roadside drugs test on him.
The offender caught the attention of the officers when he was seen driving through red lights, failing to stop at "give way" signs and shouting at other road users.
The unmarked police vehicle was able to catch up with the driver and bring the escalating incident to a halt.
Using their official Twitter account @MerPolTraffic, the force said: "Driver of this car drove through red lights, failed to stop at give ways, and shouted at and intimated other drivers.
"Thankfully all in front of unmarked police car. The positive drug wipe and breath test may explain his actions. Free bed for one in a custody suite."
It's not clear what authority the driver is licensed with, although comments on social media suggest that he may be a driver licensed with Sefton Council.
