FREENOW, the European multi-mobility platform, has launched its ride-hailing service in Glasgow. The expansion comes through a new partnership with Saltire Private Hire, offering residents and visitors an additional option for booking trips via mobile.
The service, which already operates in Edinburgh and over 150 other cities across Europe, is positioning itself as a practical solution for city travel. Users in Glasgow can now book rides through the FREENOW app, with features that show upfront pricing and real-time arrival estimates.
A key feature of the app is its ‘Prebook function’, allowing rides to be scheduled up to four days in advance. Payments can be made via Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, debit card, or cash, providing a flexible experience for passengers.
FREENOW also includes safety measures for users. Passengers receive driver and vehicle details when booking. There’s also a ‘share your trip’ option, which lets users share their journey status with friends or family.
The move into Glasgow strengthens FREENOW’s UK presence as it looks to grow its user base across more cities.
Rob Finlayson, Operations Manager at Saltire Private Hire, said: "Saltire Private Hire, part of the City Cars Group, is pleased to announce our partnership with FREENOW, enhancing transport options and increasing earning opportunities for drivers and customers across Glasgow and the surrounding areas. This collaboration underscores our commitment to innovation and delivering exceptional passenger transport services in the region."
Danny O’Gorman, General Manager at FREENOW UK, said: “It is our job to continue responding to increased demand for our service across the United Kingdom. Following the success of FREENOW in Edinburgh, with more than half a million taxi requests in the past three years and growing, we are pleased to announce that our app is now available to both residents and visitors in Glasgow, making it easier for people to book a ride whenever they need one.”
