Glasgow Taxis expands marshal team after supporting 30,000 event journeys

Glasgow Taxis has expanded its dedicated marshal team from six to eight after supporting more than 30,000 journeys from events at the OVO Hydro so far in 2026.
Robert Malcolm and Stephen Munn have joined the operator’s existing team of trained and Protecting Vulnerable Groups scheme-checked marshals.
The marshals help passengers access taxis safely and quickly at designated ranks, particularly as large events finish. Although the service is mainly deployed at the OVO Hydro, Glasgow Taxis said marshals also assist passengers travelling to major events.
Malcolm and Munn join John Thomson, John Wolfson, Jim Ross, Jamie Lauder, Stephen McMillan and William Kemp on the expanded team.
The operator said every vehicle in its fleet accepts card payments and all its drivers are members of the PVG scheme administered by Disclosure Scotland. Passengers can also submit feedback through QR codes installed in each vehicle.
Glasgow Taxis said the additional appointments formed part of a wider focus on passenger safety, reflecting responses received through its regular online surveys and feedback forms.

The expansion gives Glasgow Taxis additional capacity to manage busy event ranks and help passengers move through taxi queues following heavily attended performances.
