Hampshire Police appeal after taxi driver racially abused by passenger in Titchfield

Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has appealed for witnesses after a taxi driver was allegedly subjected to racial abuse by a passenger during a journey in Titchfield.
The incident was reported to have taken place between 8pm and 8.50pm on Friday 17 April after the driver picked up a group of four people in the area. Police said one of the passengers became verbally and racially abusive towards the driver during the trip.
Officers have now released an image of a man they believe “may be able to assist with enquiries” linked to the investigation. The man is described as white and believed to be aged between 40 and 45 years old.
The case highlights the continuing safety concerns faced by taxi and private hire drivers, particularly during late evening work involving alcohol-related passenger journeys.
Officers have released an image of a man they want to identify following an alleged racially aggravated public order incident involving a taxi driver in Hampshire.
Police are asking anyone who recognises the man pictured, or anyone with information about the incident, to contact officers on 101 quoting crime reference number 44260180066. Information can also be provided anonymously through Crimestoppers.
