Bristol Airport has opened an Invitation to Tender (ITT) for the provision of a licensed premium taxi and private hire service. The successful bidder will secure a five-year contract, with the possibility of a two-year extension.
The contract requires one operator to provide a 24-hour, seven-day-a-week service for both customers and staff. A dedicated premium taxi office near the terminal and Public Transport Interchange will be available, along with airport advertising support.
Sustainability forms a key part of the tender. Vehicles must be under three-and-a-half years old, with at least 75% hybrid or electric from the outset. By the end of 2025, a minimum of 25% of the fleet must be fully electric. Operators must also meet strict standards on cleanliness, customer service and vehicle branding.
The move comes as part of Bristol Airport’s £400m upgrade. This includes the £60m Public Transport Interchange and car park, now one of the region’s largest coach and bus interchanges. The airport currently serves 10.6 million passengers a year and expects demand to rise to 12 million in the coming years.
Interested suppliers can register and submit their bids via the airport’s e-tendering site.
Rupert Lawrie, Commercial Director, Bristol Airport, said: “We are looking forward to hearing from businesses who would like to tender for our private hire taxi service at such an exciting time. We welcome applications from all companies that offer an extremely high level of customer comfort and service and who also operate with sustainability at the forefront of their business. A clean and efficient fleet of vehicles is paramount.”
