Dyfed Powys Police, alongside various departments of Pembrokeshire County Council, conducted taxi vehicle inspections at Portfield School in Haverfordwest.

This joint operation, involving the council's Licensing Inspectors, Transport Management Department, and Haverfordwest Neighbourhood Policing Team, was initiated in response to safeguarding complaints.

A total of 26 vehicles were stopped and inspected under the provisions of the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1976. The operation resulted in four vehicles receiving immediate prohibitions due to ‘construction and use’ faults. Notably, one of these vehicles was found to be operating without a legally required meter.

The operation extended to ensuring compliance among taxi drivers and pupil escorts. It was confirmed that all individuals involved were appropriately licensed and badged.

Feedback from the taxi operators involved in the operation was reported to be extremely positive and welcomed.
