Leeds taxi driver arrested after pedestrian in his 70s suffers life-threatening injuries

West Yorkshire Police have arrested a taxi driver after a pedestrian in his 70s suffered life-threatening injuries in a collision in Leeds city centre late on Friday night.
The incident happened at around 11.30pm on 10 July at the junction of King Street and York Place. According to police, officers were called by ambulance colleagues after the man was struck by a black Ford Tourneo taxi that had been travelling along York Place before turning onto King Street.
The pedestrian was taken to hospital for treatment, where he remains with life-threatening injuries. Police have confirmed that the driver of the taxi was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
Investigators from West Yorkshire Police are now appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward. Officers are particularly keen to speak to anyone who saw the collision or the taxi in the moments leading up to the incident.
