Thunderstorms and heavy showers in London have left motorists and the public stranded as serious flooding across large parts of the capital wreaks havoc.

A London Fire Brigade spokesperson said via social media that their control officers have taken more than 300 calls relating to the flood and urged the public to avoid driving or walking through flood water.

One member of the public captured footage of a London taxi travelling through flooding on the capital's iconic Tower Bridge.

Areas heavily affected include large pockets of east London, plus areas in south London including Clapham, Camberwell and Battersea.
