Taxi and private hire operators across the UK are being encouraged to take part in Love Local Taxi & Private Hire Week, a nationwide campaign running from 6-12 July designed to highlight the sector’s role in supporting local communities.
The initiative is being supported by iCabbi alongside CMAC Group and minicabit, with fleets invited to organise local events that promote the services they provide and the wider contribution they make to towns and cities across Britain. Former Manchester United defender Wes Brown has also lent his support to the campaign.
According to organisers, the week aims to celebrate taxi and private hire businesses that have helped move people around the country for more than 120 years. Participating operators are being encouraged to host community-focused events such as street parties, charity fundraisers, driver recruitment days and summer fairs.
Fleets wishing to take part are being asked to register their events and create local activities that engage residents while promoting the value of licensed taxi and private hire services. Organisers say the campaign offers operators an opportunity to strengthen links with passengers, local stakeholders and community groups.
iCabbi has pledged to support participating fleets through marketing materials, branding assets, video content and public relations assistance. The technology provider said it will also seek to amplify local events through its own channels and, where possible, attend activities taking place during the week.
The campaign comes as many operators continue to compete for drivers and passengers in an increasingly digital transport market, with organisers positioning Love Local Taxi & Private Hire Week as a platform to promote local services and raise awareness of the sector’s economic and social contribution.
