The Worshipful Company of Hackney Carriage Drivers has marked the 100-day countdown to the Magical Taxi Tour 2026, one of London’s longest-running charitable taxi events.
The annual initiative will depart from Canary Wharf on Friday 25 September, when a convoy of more than 90 licensed London black cabs begins a three-mile procession before travelling to Disneyland Paris. The trip provides children living with chronic, life-limiting and life-threatening illnesses, along with their families, with a three-day break from ongoing treatment and care routines.
Organisers say the event continues to rely on extensive support from volunteer taxi drivers and a network of sponsors. The convoy is expected to be supported by the City of London Police, the French Gendarmerie Nationale, the London Ambulance Service and the AA throughout the journey.
According to the Worshipful Company of Hackney Carriage Drivers, participating cab drivers volunteer their time and vehicles free of charge, covering thousands of miles to ensure families can take part. Funding from sponsors and livery companies helps meet accommodation, fuel, food and admission costs associated with the trip.
The Magical Taxi Tour has become a huge fixture within London’s taxi trade calendar, bringing together drivers, industry supporters and partner organisations to deliver what organisers describe as a memorable experience for children facing serious health challenges.
With 100 days remaining before departure, preparations are now entering their final stages. Organisers have indicated there are still opportunities for businesses, organisations and livery companies to support the event as planning work continues ahead of September’s convoy.
