A man has been jailed after admitting to assaulting a taxi driver and stealing his mobile phone during an incident in Wrexham earlier this year.
Jordan Roberts was sentenced to four years and two months at Mold Crown Court on 25 November after pleading guilty to robbery.
The offence took place in March when Roberts, travelling as a passenger near Rose Hill, suddenly attacked the taxi driver. The court heard that he punched the driver to the head before taking his phone and fleeing the scene on foot. The victim managed to raise the alarm immediately after the incident.
Roberts, aged 27, was identified and arrested later the same day following police enquiries in the area. Officers confirmed that the stolen phone was part of the case against him, alongside the driver’s account of the assault.

Detective Constable Harriet Simmons said: “This was a random attack on a person who was just trying to do his job.
“Violence is never acceptable, and we will continue to pursue anyone inflicting harm and distress in our communities.”
