Metropolitan Police officers carried out a controlled explosion on an unattended vehicle outside King’s Cross St Pancras station following a security alert.
Emergency services cordoned off surrounding roads and evacuated the transport hub after the vehicle was found near the Pancras Road taxi rank. The explosion was heard by people in the surrounding area cordoned off.
The Metropolitan Police subsequently declared the vehicle non-suspicious and passengers were told they could safely return to the station following the evacuation.
The incident delayed some Eurostar departures by at least 30 minutes, while East Midlands Railway reported significant disruption across its network.
Services operating between London St Pancras and Corby, Leicester, Derby and Sheffield were affected. Passengers were advised to check their journeys before travelling.
Traffic was also partially blocked on Pancras Road in both directions, with congestion building around the station and taxi rank.
