Mid Devon Council seeks public opinion on taxi policy overhaul

Mid-Devon Council has opened the floor for public input on the proposed changes to its Hackney Carriage and Private Hire Policy.

This initiative follows an extensive review conducted in September 2023, which identified several potential amendments to the existing framework.

The Council's aims to ensure that the policy remains relevant, fair, and compliant with the current needs and standards of the taxi trade in Mid Devon. An updated policy draft has been prepared, reflecting a commitment to maintaining a well-regulated and efficient taxi service in the region.

Residents of Mid Devon are encouraged to participate in this consultation process, which runs until 15 April 2024. This period offers an opportunity for community members to voice their opinions, provide feedback, and contribute to shaping a policy that directly impacts local transportation services.

Councillor David Wulff, Cabinet Member for Community and Leisure, said: "Our engagement platform, Let's Talk Mid Devon, enables residents to help shape the policies that impact our community. Join us in the conversation as we seek your insights on proposed updates to the taxi policy.

“A number of other council projects are currently open for consultation, including the Crediton Masterplan, a rural services survey, and a petition of the condition of Mid Devon highways to be improved.”
