A new £5 drop off fee has been introduced at Bristol Airport's 'Drop & Go' Car Park.

The new charges came into effect on Monday 15 November and are exclusively for express drop off. The airport say this particular car park is designed to enable drivers to “drop and go” quickly and easily, with pricing starting from £5 for 10 minutes.

Representation for the airport took to social media to announce the changes, saying: "On the 16th November we are making some changes to our options for dropping off and picking up passengers.

"The Drop & Go car park, our most convenient place for dropping off passengers quickly and easily, the tariff will be changing to £5 for up to 10 minutes.

"The Short Stay & Pick Up car park, located opposite the terminal and designed for customers requiring longer stay lengths when collecting or dropping off, the tariff will be moving to £5 for 20 minutes.

"Our Waiting Zone on the Southside of the airport is free of charge for up to one hour for dropping off or collecting passengers, with a regular bus service operating between the terminal and the Car Rental Centre."

Bristol Airport join a number of other airports around the UK who have introduced drop off fees as they attempt to claw back funds lost due to travel restrictions put in place over the last 18 months.

The UK's busiest airport, London Heathrow, introduced a £5 drop off fee at the start of November. Drivers of all vehicles, including private hire drivers, are now being charged a £5 flat-fee per visit to the terminal drop-off zones. London’s wheelchair accessible licensed black cabs are however exempt from the charge until 1 April whilst a consultation is conducted by the regulator Transport for London (TfL).
