Newcastle private hire firm partners with drinks firm to deliver alcohol during COVID-19 lockdown

One of Newcastle's biggest private hire companies, L A Taxis, has announced a new partnership with beverage delivery firm, Drinks Delivered Newcastle, to ferry alcohol to wine, spirit, beer and cocktail thirsty folks in the city during the COVID-19 lockdown.
L A Taxis announced the new service on Saturday 4 April, saying: "If you're self isolating, that doesn't mean you can't have a house party with those in your household.
"We've got you covered at L A Taxis! In partnership with our friends at Drinks Delivered Newcastle, we're proud to bring you an alcohol delivery service to the folks of Newcastle."
The private hire firm, which claims to have a fleet of over 400 vehicles, will be charging £3 for delivery within a three mile radius of their booking office, with an additional £1 per mile after that.
The company has said that proof of age will be requested at every point of delivery.
