Nottingham taxi rank assault so severe victim has been left deaf in one ear

A suspect has been arrested after a man suffered a serious head injury as he queued for a taxi in Nottingham.

The victim, who is aged in his 20s, was hit in the face as he waited in line in Lower Parliament Street, Nottingham city centre, causing him to fall to the floor and hit his head.

He is also now deaf in one ear and suffers from vertigo as a result of the assault, which happened at around 3am on 27 July.

An 18-year-man was arrested in the early hours of 9 September on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm. He remains in police custody.

Detective Sergeant Louise Bradford, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This was a nasty attack that has left a young man with a life-altering injury. This kind of violence will never be tolerated in Nottinghamshire and we have dedicated significant resources to this case.

“I would like to thank members of the public who came forward following an appeal for information on this incident. We always appreciate support from the public and in this case we have now been able to make an arrest in connection with the offence.”
