Cambridge-based Panther Taxis has rebranded to Veezu. The change follows Panther’s acquisition by the Veezu Group in 2022.
The move brings the Cambridge fleet under the Veezu brand, now active in more than 50 UK locations. Veezu works with over 16,000 driver-partners across the country and continues to expand its use of digital services to improve passenger experience.
The Veezu app launched in Cambridge earlier this year. It offers passengers real-time vehicle tracking, improved address search, and a range of payment options including Apple Pay, Google Pay and cash. Business users also retain access to account support and booking tools through Veezu’s corporate service.
The company runs over 650 vehicles in Cambridge and surrounding areas, with more hybrid and electric vehicles being added to its fleet. This aligns with local plans to reduce emissions and promote sustainable transport. Cambridge City Council recently confirmed a 10.8% drop in its own carbon emissions, and efforts continue to bring emissions down across all sectors.
Veezu’s entry into the Cambridge market supports both transport modernisation and wider regional growth. Cambridge is a key focus for national plans to develop the Oxford-Cambridge Growth Corridor. These developments aim to turn the area into a centre for science, technology and AI.
The integration of Veezu’s platform with Panther’s local network aims to deliver more efficient and reliable journeys, while supporting the city’s long-term goals for connectivity and low-carbon transport.
Paul Clare, Regional Operations Director at Veezu, said: “Panther Taxis has been at the heart of Cambridge transport for more than three decades. As we bring the brand under the Veezu name, we’re investing in smarter technology, cleaner vehicles and new tools to improve the passenger experience. This change reflects our ambition to evolve with the city, supporting Cambridge’s goals on innovation and sustainability while continuing to deliver the dependable service passengers rely on every day.”
