A 38-year-old man who sought out and preyed on a young girl on a night out in a Hull club on Saturday 29 October 2022, has been sentenced at Hull Crown Court to 12 years in jail for her rape.

He will face deportation proceedings following his jail term.

Humberside Police officer in the Case, DC Ethan Anderson, said: “The 18-year-old girl had been out with her friends when she left the club alone and headed for a taxi rank. “Lazarus Olleh, of Belmont Street in Hull, was parked in the taxi rank. He was not a licenced taxi driver and had been sitting waiting for an opportunity to present itself to take advantage of an innocent young girl. “He saw the girl and went over to her, spoke with her, and took her to his car. He sat her in the passenger seat and then drove her to a nearby flat where he raped her. “She is then believed to have been dropped off around the New Bridge Road area where she sought out help from friends nearby.

“Olleh is a clear danger to women, he was waiting for an opportunity that night to take and rape a girl. “The young victim has shown huge resilience in retelling her experience to us and I have nothing but praise for her fortitude. “This man would have continued to offend if she hadn’t have come forward and reported that she had been raped to us. “I am pleased that Lazarus Olleh has been sentenced to this lengthy term and I hope that this will serve as a message to anyone who thinks about committing such heinous crimes that we will do everything in our power to bring you to justice. “I would appeal for anyone who has experienced a sexual offence to come to us and talk to us. We have specially trained officers within our Protecting Vulnerable People unit (PVP) to help victims of rape and sexual offences and can offer, not only our support, but that of partner agencies to give them the help they need. “If you have been a victim of a sexual offence, please call us on our non-emergency number 101. We will help guide you through the whole process and do everything we can to bring your offender to justice.”
