Police and licensing officers carried out vehicle and driver compliance checks in Haverfordwest and Milford Haven this week.
PCs Kate and Phil from Milford Haven and Haverfordwest Police were joined by Pembrokeshire County Council’s Licensing team during the operation. Officers stopped and inspected taxis in both towns on Thursday morning.
The joint effort focused on ensuring local taxi services were operating within the law and meeting safety standards. Police confirmed the checks were part of continued work to monitor licensing compliance across the area.
The activity follows a previous operation in April when officers from the council, Dyfed-Powys Police and the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) carried out roadside inspections in Neyland and Milford Haven. On that occasion, 24 vehicles were checked and several enforcement actions followed.
Six taxis were given suspension notices, with four more receiving delayed prohibition notices for defects that needed repair. One vehicle was discovered to be untaxed, and a number of fixed penalty notices were issued for further driver-related offences. Three drivers were also found working without their required ID badges.
The recent checks form part of a wider approach to taxi and private hire enforcement in Pembrokeshire.
Milford Haven and Haverfordwest Police said: “PCs Kate and Phil have been out this morning with Licensing from Pembrokeshire County Council. The team have been conducting checks on local taxis in both Haverfordwest and Milford Haven.”
