West Midlands Police confirmed that a taxi driver was threatened by a passenger on Bromford Lane in Hodge Hill shortly after 2am. The vehicle was then taken.

Officers responded quickly and, with support from the dog unit, located the vehicle near Hodge Hill Road within ten minutes.

A short foot pursuit followed before a police dog helped detain a 19-year-old man.
