Police box in private hire vehicle after two occupants attempted to throw items into local prison

Derbyshire Police managed to successfully box-in a private hire vehicle after two people suspected of throwing items into a local prison attempted to flee the scene.
Officers from Derbyshire Roads Policing Unit intercepted the vehicle in Sudbury and arrested the two occupants of the private hire car.
On further investigation, officers found numerous items of contraband in the minicab.
A spokesperson for the unit said: "Sudbury. Working with @DerbysSALCU to combat items being thrown and conveyed into local prisons.
"Two suspects tried to run off and escape in a vehicle. Failed, boxed in and arrested. Numerous items of contraband recovered."
Speaking with TaxiPoint, a spokesperson for Derbyshire Police confirmed that the vehicle being driven was a private hire car, but were unable to elaborate more as a current investigation is ongoing.
