A white Toyota Prius car, marked with Transport for London roundels - identification used to distinguish private hire vehicles in the capital - has been chased down and the occupant arrested.
The incident, recorded by North West Motorway Police, happened on the M62 at J11, when officers from Cheshire Police Roads and Crime Unit flagged the driver of the vehicle to pull over.
When requested to stop, the driver failed to do so, and instead exited the motorway at J11.
Officers were able to locate the vehicle just off the junction, where they arrested the occupant on suspicion of using the vehicle in a crime.
The force confirmed that the occupant was taken to the police station to spend the night while enquiries were ongoing.
Police are yet to confirm if the driver of the vehicle holds a current Transport for London private hire licence or whether the vehicle is still registered as a private hire vehicle.
TaxiPoint has approached them for further details.
