Officers investigating the death of a man following a road traffic collision in Manchester have released an image of a taxi they want to trace as part of ongoing enquiries.

The incident happened shortly after midnight on Sunday 7 December 2025, when a car travelling along Ardwick Green South collided with a pedestrian believed to have been crossing the road. Despite treatment from emergency services, the pedestrian, a 45 year old man, died from his injuries.

The driver of the car remained at the scene and no arrests have been made. As part of the investigation, Greater Manchester Police said officers are seeking to identify the driver of a black cab that was in the area at the time.

Police believe the taxi may have narrowly avoided a collision with the pedestrian shortly before the fatal impact. The taxi driver is being treated as a witness rather than a suspect, officers said.

Anyone who believes they were driving the cab, or who was in the area at the time of the collision, has been asked to contact the Serious Collision Investigation Unit. Information can also be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers.
