A private hire driver has been reported by Staffordshire Police after being stopped for faulty brake lights in the Stoke area.

According to a spokesperson from the force’s Road Crime Team, the Toyota vehicle was brought to a halt due to the defect. The vehicle was subsequently prohibited from continuing its journey.

Police shared an image of the vehicle parked near Stoke City Football Club’s stadium following the stop.

The incident serves as a reminder for drivers, especially those operating under a private hire licence, to ensure all safety-critical components of their vehicle are functioning correctly before taking to the road.

A Staffordshire Police Road Crime Team spokesperson said: ”This Toyota was stopped in the Stoke area as the brake lights were not working. The driver has been reported and the vehicle has been prohibited.”
