A licensed private hire driver has been suspended for four weeks following a decision by the Bolton Council Licensing and Environmental Regulation Committee.
The matter, discussed on 8 July 2025, involved multiple speeding offences and a failure to declare previous convictions as required under the licence conditions.
The driver, who attended the meeting, had completed a speed awareness course last year but had a total of three recent speeding offences.
The Committee also noted that the driver did not declare offences from 2023 and 2024 despite licence requirements and previous warnings on the matter. In its deliberations, the Committee considered that the driver had held a licence for 18 years and maintained high customer ratings through Uber.
The suspension was agreed unanimously by the members present and was intended as both a warning and a deterrent. The decision will see the driver prohibited from working for four weeks before being able to resume duties.
