A joint late-night licensing operation was carried out in Manchester city centre involving officers from Wythenshawe and Vale Royal Public Protection, Greater Manchester Police, and British Transport Police.
The coordinated checks took place across key city locations including Shudehill Station, Victoria Station, and Piccadilly Station. Officers inspected vehicles and drivers to ensure compliance with licensing conditions and vehicle safety standards.
City of Wolverhampton Council Public Protection confirmed that the joint effort formed part of an ongoing partnership drive to improve road safety and maintain high standards in the taxi and private hire sector. The team thanked all involved for their support in helping to keep roads safe across Manchester.
Other licensing authorities were invited to join the operation but were unable to attend on this occasion. WV Public Protection added that it continues to promote collaboration and shared enforcement activity across the wider region.
The checks coincided with national Tyre Safety Month, highlighting the importance of regular vehicle inspections to ensure public safety.
A WV Public Protection spokesperson said: “A productive night working with Greater Manchester Police and British Transport Police on a joint licensing operation in Manchester City Centre covering Shudehill Station, Victoria Station & Piccadilly Station.
“Thanks to all involved for helping keep our roads safe.”
In a further post they added: “Other licensing authorities were invited to participate but were unable to attend on this occasion. We continue to actively encourage and support partnership working across all areas we operate in.”
