A joint taxi enforcement operation in Rochdale has resulted in three drivers having their licences suspended after compliance failures were identified during roadside checks.
The operation, led by Greater Manchester Police neighbourhood officers alongside licensing teams from the local authority, targeted vehicles operating in the Heywood area. The aim was to ensure taxis met required safety, insurance and licensing standards.
Officers stopped a total of 13 vehicles during the checks. 13 warnings were issued for various compliance issues, while three cases were deemed serious enough to warrant immediate licence suspensions due to breaches of safety or regulatory requirements.
According to details released by Rochdale Police, the checks focused on vehicle roadworthiness, valid licences and insurance, and adherence to local taxi regulations. Authorities indicated that some vehicles fell short of expected standards, highlighting ongoing compliance risks within the fleet.

The enforcement activity forms part of a wider effort to improve passenger safety and ensure a level playing field for licensed operators. Industry stakeholders are routinely reminded that maintaining vehicle condition and documentation is a legal requirement.
While no specific breakdown of the individual offences was provided, officials confirmed that follow-up action is expected. This may include monitoring suspended licences and reviewing corrective actions taken by drivers.
Drivers and operators have been encouraged to report concerns through official licensing channels, as regulators step up oversight across the region.
