Stevenage Borough Council launch taxi fare review which could see tariffs rise by around 4%
Stevenage Borough Council has launched its annual consultation on taxi fares and tariffs, inviting residents to have their say on three potential options for changes. This year’s review offers a choice between two fare adjustment proposals and the option to maintain the current rates.
The first option would see no change to the initial fare of £3.80, but a slight rise in tariffs 1, 2, and 3 by less than 3%.
The second option suggests a marginal increase of 5 pence in the initial fare, bringing it to £3.85, alongside a tariff rise of less than 4%.
Alternatively, the council is also offering the option to keep both the initial fare and tariffs unchanged.
It is important to note that any additional charges and the current soiling fee of £50 remain unaffected. The consultation will determine which option, if any, comes into effect from 21 October 2024.
Residents and stakeholders are encouraged to provide feedback on the proposals as the council seeks to ensure the taxi fare structure remains fair and balanced for both drivers and passengers.
