Taxi driver racially abused by passenger as Hampshire police issue image appeal

Hampshire Constabulary has launched an appeal for information after a taxi driver was reportedly racially abused by a passenger during an incident in Warsash last month.
The incident is said to have taken place between 1.20am and 1.45am on Sunday 5 July after the driver picked up a group of three people from the Brook Avenue area of Warsash. According to police, one of the passengers verbally and racially abused the driver during the journey.
Officers are now asking for the public’s help to identify a man they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries. The man is described as white, aged between 30 and 40 years old, of medium build, with braided hair that was shaved at the sides. He is also described as having tattoos on his arms and neck.
Racial abuse directed at taxi and private hire drivers remains a concern across the industry, with drivers often working alone during late-night hours and regularly dealing with passengers in challenging circumstances.
